It is unfortunate that in the 21st century it is hard to find people who do what they say they are going to do. To find people who have a work ethic where saving a good business relationship is more important than chasing down new deals. After all hasn't marketing taught us anything.......corporations spend more money on chasing after new customers than retaining and keeping their current customers satisfied and ultimately generating repeat business.
With all the emphasis on education and college degrees, is it possible that people are becoming stupider? With so many people obtaining B.A.'s, Masters and Ph.D's, it is any wonder why so many small business owners, mid size corporations and large corporations have such a hard time finding good quality workers. Yes, everyone wants to get paid what they think they are entitled to, yet very few people want to put forth the hard work, long hours, and produce the quality of work that would justify them to have such a nice salary. Employers want to pay it, if they have it, to the people who are doing it.
As of late, I find that many people, tired of corporate America and the way they have been treated or mis-treated, have opted to open their own business, including myself. One thing that I have noticed is the lack of integrity and business practices amongst the owners in some of these small "consulting" businesses and the quality of their work.
If you have opted to open your own business don't over promise and under-deliver, don't tell people you can do something only after you have cashed their check to tell them you can't. Don't court the potential customer luring them in with your slick sales tactics, only to loose interest once you have cashed in their last check and moved on to your next prospect. I can assure you, you will loose in the end because one of these customers of yours is going to have a blog, or a column or be heavily respected on YELP and will change the face of your business forever. The 21st century is NOT the same as the days of old. The public, the customer, people like me........we will keep you honest by telling the rest of the world. That is what communities and blogs have done for corporate America.........they have forced them to be honest and those who won't, end up out of business because you and I support each other.
Welcome to the 21st century of business. You may get away with shady business practices for a short while but in the long run, it only takes one person, one blog to bring awareness to others.
Everyday I pray for the wisdom to discern the difference between people who want your money, and people who really are who they say they are.
That being said, you may be noticing some bugs in the site. Please bear with us as we are hiring on an inside IT person to take over the development of the site from this day forward. We realize from our own day to day activities on the site that we have bugs. I anticipate this taking a few weeks to work each one out. Have patience with us as we grow and try to make your experience simple and more enjoyable everyday moving forward. After all, if any of you are like me, I know what little free time you have, and when you have it, you want to maximize it, not fight off bugs!
Thank you for you patience as we develop the site, learn from these lessons and move forward more wisely.
Best,
Freda

I am always dumbfounded by the job applicants that we interview for various positions. It is any wonder how they plan on getting a job, let alone holding a position.
They need to really teach better interviewing skills in college. This past year has been the most interesting to say the least.
I Agree
How true! I remember years ago when I was in High School and began working part-time for a local, small law firm. The attorney I was assigned to never bothered to call clients back. Once the client was able to connect with him, he would tell the client, "oh, my secretary never gave me your message". I despised that, because it was a big, fat, lie and the real reason why the lawyer didn't want to call the client back was "he/she owes me money, I don't want to talk to him/her". To this day, ethics is tops on my list. Calling people back is paramount to any business, whether it be a service or product.
I agree about the part of hiring people... Freda, you may have stumbled upon something. A college or university can teach you what you need to obtain a college degree/diploma, but they can't teach you proper work ethics or habits. That comes from the individual. We all have to start at the bottom and work our way up the ladder.
All the best,

Thanks Ellen. I appreciate
Thanks Ellen. I appreciate that! I think it is hard to find good talent and when you do, you hang on to it and reward them in the best ways that you can.
Speaking of
Speaking of education..."dissapointment" is spelled with one S.
Ahhh, just goes to show you
Ahhh, just goes to show you that we are all human! Thanks for pointing that out. I am going to have to have to garnish my editor's wages now!
My apologies, SuperSally.
My apologies, SuperSally. I’ve been on event planning duty as of late, so I hope you'll forgive any mistakes and recognize that they are not a reflection of education but rather of having an excessively busy schedule over the last few months. Thanks for your comment.
