Working for Women and With Women: The Job That I Spring Out of Bed For

I'm a skeptic. I come by it naturally. So it was no surprise (to me) when I interviewed for this job that the skeptic in me jumped out of her chair and questioned the sanity of working in an enviroment that's 100% women.

Board of Directors: 100% Women
Employees: 100% Women
Our Clients: 100% Women (Hence the name)

Immediate Thoughts:
It's a great cause but aren't there...
Cat Fights?

Wow, these people are so nurturing and compelling but surely there must be...
More Cat Fights
than anywhere on the planet, right?

I think that this could work but can I really stomach
Even More Cat Fights
than a holiday meal at the in-laws?

Nada. Nada. And no need to worry.

I did take the job and I have to say, if you have never worked in an environment that's 100% chica, you should try it. You owe it yourself.

Instant benefits:
I can adjust my hose anytime, anywhere.
Same goes for the underwire bra that always seemed to poke at the worst possible times at previous places of employment.

Not to mention, all the things I don't have to explain because we know. We just know.

My vision for this blog is fairly vague right now. I'm toying with the idea of talking about the victories and struggles of being the Director of Development & PR for a vibrant, established non-profit. I'm also thinking about discussing all the other non-profit jobs (some women are accused of having cats; I have 501c3s), how they compared, their struggles, etc. I'm not quite sure where this blog will take me, but I'm glad I'm here.

I'm glad you're here! I must

I'm glad you're here! I must say I would have had the same concerns, but I'm excited to read what it's like to work in a non-profit, especially one focusing on women's issues. Welcome!
