Why is Facebook taking over Myspace? I know people think Facebook is a more "Grown up" site, but to me it looks like the same thing, only more complicated to use and less pretty. I personaly love myspace. I use it mostly to exchange pictures and thoughts with my sister that lives far away, and friends I don't see too often. I enjoy browsing thru profiles because most of them are very colorful and interesting. There is this other site where I have a profile called Badoo, and I hate it. I got in there because my friend from Mexico recomended it, but it's so weird! There's lots of european people (I have got many marriage proposals from guys from India, Irak, Morocco, France, Italy...) and they get to rate your pictures. That pissed me off! There is many very ugly guys that rate me so low that makes me think they don't have a mirror in their house! I mean, I may not be their type, but I know I deserve better than a 3.5! LOL There is a good side to it though. It's flattering being rated higher than 83% of the women on the site. The other thing I don't like is that people can see that you have viewed their profiles...
So, what is your favorite social network?

I really don't like MySpace, as I got a lot of crap emails from men and women alike asking me personal sexual questions and wanting to be my "friend." I don't even know them - why would I want to be their friend?
I like facebook much more because it's cleaner, not just anyone can add you as their friend, and all my college friends are on it. It's a good way to keep up with them. I have never gotten sexual messages on facebook. Yes, it's got less personal expression, but I have other outlets for that. Cool post

Maybe that's why I find
Maybe that's why I find myspace more appealing. I went to college in Mexico, and my generation was not into computers much back then(We used to have 1 computer class a week that we could barely understand, and we could not really practice at home because only rich people could afford a computer... Yes, it's sad, but true.) So the links of facebook to find your school friends are useless for me. On myspace I can find pretty much anybody easily without having to search too much. It's true there is a lot of trash sent to your mailbox or phony friend requests, but you can always block them.
Thanks for your comment!

I have both....
Facebook and MySpace and although I use MySpace more for business purposes, I find that I am gravitating more towards Facebook.
I love the new look of Facebook right now, and it is becoming easier to navigate through.
Although I have a slew of networking accounts:
Tagged: sucks (ummmmmmm I blogged about this place!)
BlackPlanet: sucks (back in the day however Blackplanet was the place to be...now it is just a big ole spam site complete with God-Fearing cyber sluts!)
Multiply: sucks (too much to learn)
Yahoo 360 : sucks (categorize that one with Black Planet)
I must admit I love / hate Myspace though...
Oh I hear you! The love-hate
Oh I hear you! The love-hate relationship with myspace is a common subject to me... I have created and deleted accounts at least 5 times there because I get tired of it, but then I can't help it and have to get back! (My friends always make fun of me and say "This is the last time I'm adding you as my friend byotch!")

I have both as well. I like
I have both as well. I like Myspace a little more....only because I can personalize my page with backgrounds and music. It can be fun sometimes just jazzing up my profile!
Ah! finally! Another myspace
Ah! finally! Another myspace junkie! I thought I was a weirdo for liking a network for it's pretty colors... Thanks Steph!

I sure will! I can't wait
I sure will! I can't wait until I feel comfortable enough to add you as a friend and show my face. I have been hiding behind my "day of the dead skull" picture because I need more time to get over my issues. I may have to start from zero here in AW when my life falls back in place. I don't think it would be fair to expose my ex and his "wife"'s life story on the internet behind their backs... When everything is over, the other woman will be a thing of the past, together with everybody that had a part in this drama.... Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but that's just me.

No my friend, you are not
No my friend, you are not the only one
I have myspace and facebook.
I have myspace and facebook. I have been forced to use facebook more, because more people use facebook. BUT I HATE FACEBOOK!!!!!
There is only 2 good things about facebook: "flair" and the new application that lets me add my blog as a facebook page which is beyond cool because I can force more people to look at it!
I love myspace. I love using it as a creative outlet, I love searching for new artists on it, I love putting music on my page, and I love learning html code through it.
I have my myspace profile set so that it doesn't allow for friend requests or messages from anyone who doesn't know my last name or my email address. That means I get no spam!
Do you know what else I hate about Facebook, APPLICATIONS. Facebook allows third parties to access your information all in the guise of applications that require YOU to agree to giving access to god only knows who. And we do it, why? To find out what beer personality we have. Who gives a shit?
The one thing I don't like about myspace is the bulletin posts you can't get rid of. I have had to delete people (family members even!) because I could not stand getting all the stupid ass high school surveys, and other ridiculous time wasters.
In short, Myspace yay, Facebook nay.

Oh my god the
Oh my god the applications.... I hate them as much as you do! When I first started on facebook, I didn't know what it was all about, and I thought it would be rude to block applications and invitations sent by my friends (because I don't know if they get a notification saying I blocked or ignore them), but now I don't give a rat's ass! I tell them straight forward "Stop it with the applications already! I don't know how to play poker, I don't want to be a mob king and I don't care what color underware your grandma is wearing!"
I guess every site needs sponsors, but c'mon! What about the links that sometimes look interesting and you think it will be some good information about whatever, and then you click on them and you have to agree to sign up for at least 5 items in order to finish reading whatever thing you thought it was interesting!!! I H-A-T-E those with a passion... Which reminds me... (Nothing to do with facebook) One time I bought flowers online to be delivered to a friend of mine and the flower's site (proflowers.com) signed me up automatically for some "savings" site where you get coupons and stuff. Next thing I know, there was a charge on my card of $14.99 for a membership to that site that I didn't even know I was enrolled to!!! Outrageous, I'm telling you. I never got that money back, because I figured it was gonna take me a lot of phone time, frustration, and probably forgetting my decent lady manners, but I cancelled as soon as I found out...

Facebook
I'm probably not the best judge because I've never used My Space. A few years ago when it was very popular I was not into social networking at all. I only read about My Space and it's dangers to children so I steered clear away from it. Now, the people I speak with tend to be on Facebook and Facebook seems to be doing a better (not perfect) job of protecting your privacy. Is Facebook great? Nope...it confuses the hell out of me but I am doing a good amount of networking on it so I think I'll keep it and I can't bother learning another application!

re:
I actually had a myspace but had to cancel because of a computer bug. I've used both of them. Facebook for me tends to have a lot of weirdos on it. and to many applications. I do like the fact they have the alpha women group there. I can meet some really cool ladies.
My space allows you more creativity in your style, themes and lay outs. Also put your own music up. I am more of a myspacer.
I have found some christian myspace alternatives that are really good. I'm going to join up on. Shout life is really good, His Holy Space, your christian space
101christianspace etc.
I'm also prefer myspace.
My .02...
I thought I posted this last night, I am bummed but will write again...
I have had myspace for MANY years and never really liked the layout or interface. I am not a fan of the ads everywhere. Also, I don't like that in order for your background not scroll you need a good designer or excellent computer skills which most people don't have. So I find the pages to be ugly. There are plenty of places on the web that will give you some free server space if you want to be creative and post a web page. So to me, it's not where I look for a creative outlet. If I want to listen to music, I am playing it. I really don't care to hear other people's music on myspace. So I always have to turn my volume down. On Facebook, you can list your favorite musicians in a number of ways. l I have a myspace page that my web team designed and it was mostly just a PR tool. You guys should check it out though...
myspace.com/artfulwears
I find Facebook's interface to be much more user-friendly and far less cluttered. Everything there is logical. It is designed to connect you with people you know rather than random strangers (which is what myspace does). So I find it a nice place to find friends I have been out of touch with. As for the applications, you don't have to use them. However, there are some that are pretty cool.
Facebook also allows you to choose what everyone or each individual can see on your page. So you can allow them to see your pictures but not your wall or many other combinations.
The beauty of it though is that we all have options!!
P.S. A chat interface would be a great addition to this site.
Amen to the AW chat!
Amen to the AW chat! Although that might be dangerous, and very detrimental to my job productivity!!
