So year after year the same thing happens...January 1st I usually have my laundry list of resolutions that stick for about 2-4 weeks, if that. Soon after, around mid-winter I realize my resolutions have now been derailed and I slowly sink into a depressive/complacent state. Not fun. Spring arrives, things look a little better, but never as promising as that 1st day of the year. So I continue on with each day until I blink and it's Dec 31st again. Where on earth has the time gone?
Well this year is going to be different. There's a saying that defines the word insanity: "doing the same thing over expecting a different result". I'm tired of the same results every year...and by golly, I do NOT WANT TO BE INSANE!
How will I go about this? Here's my plan:
For starters, I am making sure that I surround myself with positive, forward-moving thinkers. I've realized there are naysayers around every corner. You can either have them interfere with your plan or just walk away...I'm walking away.
Second, I'm writing everything down in a journal and welding it to my side! I thought I was some kind of superhuman with a memory that can organize, date and collate everything I need to do! I woke up. I need to write it down and dedicate a time to do so.
Finally, believe in myself and have the language that reflects that belief. My faith in Christ has given me the strength to know he's my foundation. However, if he's on my side then who can be against me (Rom. 8-31) No one! Especially myself! I need to realize that I cannot downplay who I am in my career, friendships or relationships. I have a lot to offer myself and the people around me. By saying "I will" do something instead of "I might" or "I'll try", I need to affirm myself of my strength and reflect on what I've accomplished and how I can accomplish future goals.
Happiness is an attitude and although it seems like it could take some work, the payoff is much bigger than you'd expect. I've come along way in the past 10 years, but I am ready to go even further...
Thanks for reading my post..I look forward to reading your future posts of greatness...
