- I am 38, single (never married), living with my two "children" ... my two miniature doxies that are a handful. I still hope to someday find "the one" and settle down, but refuse to settle just to be married. I've dated some great men and had great experiences with very few regrets. I don't know if I would be the "Alpha Woman" I am today if it were not for my five closest girlfriends-Lisa, Lisa, Donna, Vicki and Amy. I’m the youngest of the group and they have taught me so much about life and men – to never lower my expectations; only raise them! We have a rule in our little group – no “poor me” allowed. We accept that while at times we may need each other for support, we each have the ability and strength to get through anything. It took me until I reached 30 to have any clear idea of who I really was and what I wanted to do with my life. As a child I was a bit stubborn and always had to have my own opinion. I didn’t get along with my father very well growing up as I felt he picked on me too much and was harder on me than my younger siblings. Now, I realize that he was challenging me to be a better, stronger person. Today, I am working side-by-side with him in the family business trying to launch new technologies into the world. He is the inventor-type and I’m the marketing/business type, so together I’m hoping we can make this venture a success beyond our wildest dreams. This is the first blog site I have ever joined and the first time I ever blogged for that matter. I find myself on the internet much more now that I really want to be, but I find the conversations on this site interesting, refreshing, and thought provoking. It’s great to find a site where women from such diverse backgrounds can discuss anything, and agree or disagree thoughtfully with each other while expanding our individual universes with different perspectives. We are certainly entering an era that presents so much opportunity for women. I wish you all the passion to see promise beyond the mountain, the strength to start the climb, great friends to get you over the rough spots, and a beautiful sunset when you reach the top.

My Dad brought up a great question today … if Obama has any ties to terrorists, how can he gain government clearance at one of the highest levels in order to have access to the government’s most guarded
