Bio
I discovered a love of wine by accident while waiting tables after college in New York City. In January 2002 I helped open a restaurant in Times Square called Blue Fin (in the W Times Sq). The wine list was put together by a Master Sommelier named Greg Harrington, then Wine Director for Blue Fin parent group BR Guests Restaurants Inc. It was an amazing wine list. I decided that I was going to take advantage of that opportunity by learning everything I could about wine from Greg. By 2004 I was opening a BR Guest restaurant as the beverage manager/sommelier. In 2006 I moved to Chicago to open The James Hotel and David Burke's Primehouse. I have studied formally with the American Sommelier Association in New York and passed the introductory course (2003-4) as well as advanced tasting (2005). I passed the certified level of the Court of Master Sommeliers (2007) while living in Chicago. I plan on continuing my pursuit of becoming a Master Sommelier by sitting for the Advanced Sommelier exam sometime in 2009. Another goals includes travelling to some of the various wine regions that I have been reading about for the past six years.
