One in four young women has slept with more than 10 people while only one in five men has done the same, according to new survey.
Seven out of ten women polled by More magazine admitted to having a one-night stand, with a fifth confessing to having more than five casual encounters.
The average young woman has sex three times a week but would like to do it five times.
The survey showed that most young women today do not hold on to traditional beliefs on sexual morality anymore.
Most of the women polled had lost their virginity at 16 with just one percent saying they would want to get married before having sex.
Only one in three believe it's important to be in love with someone before getting down and dirty while more than half said they were not in love with their first sexual partner.
Lisa Smosarski, the editor of More, told The Daily Telegraph: "Our results show that after decades of lying back and thinking of England, today's twenty-something women are taking control of their sex lives and getting what they want in bed."
Half of those surveyed admitted they'd been unfaithful, while only a quarter said they had been cheated on by a boyfriend. A quarter would also have an affair with a married man.
Young women are also taking "huge risks" when it comes to their sexual health with 38 per cent not a condom with a new partner. A further 16 per cent have contracted an STD.

Gwen I don't trust More Magazine. They are owned by a major media corp called Meredith. But these stats are certainly interesting to say the least. Go girls! I am not advocating being promiscuous but I think it is great that women are getting what they want and vocalizing their sexual needs. Change has to start somewhere and if everyone is quite and won't talk in the bedroom...we have some real problems.
Here was a survey done by The Kinsey institute. I find this to be more reliable. The media wants us to think that everyone is obsessed with sex and cheating and promiscuous. Myth: Most Married People are Unfaithful

My first reaction to
My first reaction to "More's" research is to ask how many people were surveyed and from what pool of people?
My second reaction is, if these findings represent the larger whole, what exactly is it that women want? Are women now just interested in friends with benefits or sex with no strings attached? Is that something to be proud of? I think that's sad.
It seems to me that we are confusing "taking control" of our sex lives with being out of control with our sex lives. Men have traditionally had the social freedom to be out of control with their sex lives, without the social stigma women were faced with. It seems that rather than men having more respect for their own bodies as well as women's, women have resorted to the ways of men. I in no way hope to come off sounding Puritanical here, but there is something in me that thinks it's a big old bogus bunch of crap to think that people who sleep around in the name of "sexual liberation" are actually liberated. In fact, I think it is just the opposite.
Is it so bad/conservative/passe to think that sex should mean more than "getting off" with some dip shit that doesn't mean much too you?
I do like that women are now more than ever able to say I LIKE SEX AND I WANT TO HAVE A LOT OF IT! That's the way it should be. But I think we are all lying to ourselves when we think that sex is ever just sex.
I will always believe that both men and women love, want, and need sex. In addition, I believe with every ounce of my being, that the healthiest core of every human being, wants for that sex to mean something. If/when individuals get to a point where sex is purely about sexual gratification, you can bet your bottom dollar there is some kind of hurt/hopelessness/or other sad story to blame.
