So everyone who read my "Make up Revolution" blog pretty much should know how I feel about too much make-up. That being stated, lately I have been searching high and low for a new kind of lipstick.
For the longest time I have been using the color RAISIN by Revlon, and I am pretty much bored of it. I have tried going to the store and picking something out, but by the time I get home and open it, try it on, I realize it looks horrible.
I need something new and exciting; I like the kind of lipstick that makes your lips stand out, but doesn't make them look unnatural. I also need something with enough moisturizer for my often-dry lips, and I would adore a lipstick that stays on even when I eat. Any suggestions, ladies?

I am very picky when it comes to lipstick, so when I find one I like, I stick with it until I have to apply it with my finger because it's all gone, and then I go lipstick hunting again (Plus, since I usually buy natural soft colors, I don't have to worry that it won't match with the eyeshadow or the color of outfit.) Right now I have one by Cover Girl Incredifull lipcolor in ripe fig. I guess it depends on your skin tone too. Once I bought one from Victoria's Secret that I really liked. It's actually a lipgloss, but it's not as sticky and it plumps your lips beautifully. It's clear enough to let your lips look natural, but it has a little pink so they don't look too pale. I want to buy it again, but sometimes I'm not in the mood to pay $20.00 for a lipgloss...
If you want it to last, there is the forever lipsticks by maybelline or the Cover Girl Outlast lipcolor, but some people say their lips feel kind of dry with it. I don't really mind reapplying during the day if my lipstick has some kind of moisturizer (a great trick that made my man say I have the softest lips he has ever kissed) ... and I love the looks I get from him when I do it (He stares and stares, and I can tell he's thinking something interesting...)

I once bought a lip plumper from VS...it stung my lips and tasted really sour!! Definitely not worth the $18. I have used some Cover Girl products in the so I shall look into that.

Try Revlon's Plum Wicked.
Try Revlon's Plum Wicked. It's in the same color family as the one you use know now but it's in form of a gloss. The color is less harsh. Or you can try their champagne colored one and use bronzing powder on your cheeks to give you color
I used all their colors and I love them!

Even though it has a strange reputation I really like Mary Kay lipsticks. They have great colors and they just look really good on.
The best long lasting lipstick I have ever used is by MAC. It comes in a double sided tube. One side is the color side and the other side has a gloss side. All long lasting lipsticks make your lips dry. The gloss in this particular kind prevents that dry feeling without removing the color. It really is the best.

Hmm, I will check out MAC. I know what you mean about long lasting lipsticks...I just wish that weren't true! And yes, Mary Kay is questionable...some of their stuff has made me break out and I am hesitant to use their stuff.

Lipstick-shopping is a pain! :)
I know the feeling; shopping for lipstick can be SO trial & error. It's not at ALL fun to pay like $7 for a lipstick (after you stood there in the aisle for 15 minutes trying to make your decision on which one to buy), only to go home and find that----eeeuw!!! What an AWFUL color. We all probably have a drawer full of lipstick mistakes. Happily for me, I have a daughter who LOVES my mistake lipsticks.
, are in my SUMMER color palette--- the colors I am supposed to be wearing to look my best. Other stuff, like certain colors or lipstick mistakes, were often from another incompatible-for-me color season.
For me, it was very eyeopening to have my "colors" done. In the '80s, author Carol Jackson originated the COLORS scheme for women: spring, summer, fall, and winter color palettes determine the colors you should wear.
It's also true for lipstick & all makeup.
I remember the seasonal colors fad of the '80s, but I had never had them done for ME. I found Jackson's book at a garage sale for 25 cents, hahaha, and decided this was my chance!
I read it and learned a lot about "my" colors as a SUMMER. I found that the outfits and the makeup colors I love, the ones that make me look gorgeous
I was SO delighted to have this info!
I have been building my wardrobe little by little around my SUMMER colors. This has been a smart move! I also follow the colors rule when I look for makeup. The result has been that my last lipstick purchase was DEAD ON! It is a great color & is my fave lipstick.
Check your local library for the book! It's COLOR ME BEAUTIFUL by Carole Jacskon. Yes, it's oldish (but I happen to LOVE the '80s) (hahahah)--- like written in maybe 1985?? And some of the fashion advice, therefore, is humorously outdated. But it's fun.
Huh, I will definitely check
Huh, I will definitely check that out, it sounds interesting. I love posting my worries/problems/questions on this site. You never know quite what someone will say and usually everyone's advice is really helpful! Thanks

Black Honey by Clinique is a
Black Honey by Clinique is a fabulous colour on so many women because is has colour but is not over-powering ~ it looks dark in the tube but goes on sheer. Maple Stickgloos by Laura Mercier is also fabulous on - so much so it is almost always out of stock (so maybe not my best suggestion of the day.) I hate the way many lipsticks tasts so I love Sonia Roselli's lip glosses (she custom blends them for you and adds your favorite flavor). I have yet to find a turely long lasting lipstick that with everyday wear will not over dry my lips.
A good lipstick colour should be one the brightens your entire face, almost like you refreshed all you makeup just by putting on the lipstick. I have about 6 different lipstick brands that are all alomost the same colour... if you are really looking for a change head to your local beauty store weather that is Sephora, Ulta, or a deporatment store - one where you can try on different colour then walk around checking yourself out in all the different mirrors - it is one of my favorite past times...lol!

Have you ever tried Arbonne?
Arbonne has a WONDERFUL line of makeup that is botanically based and very good for your skin. It is the only makeup line I use anymore. The lipsticks are great and very moisturizing. Plus I know a few tricks to make any lipstick last longer: apply a thin layer of concealer or liquid makeup to your lips and let dry. Next fill in lips with a lip liner, apply a light dusting of loose powder, then apply lipstick with a lipbrush and blot with an open mouth (don't close your lips around the tissue). Powder and apply more color if you wish or top with a dab of lipgloss.
Call or email me if you would like to try any of the Arbonne lip colors. And FYI...we have a 45-day money back guarantee if you don't like your product for any reason.
