The New Goddess Look

Have you seen it around? On TV commercials, in magazine ads, on the street?

I'm talking about gorgeous, sophisticated, hot women - with white hair. Who would have ever thought?

Even while the "news" media is still telling us how we worship youth (yawn - that news is so 20th century), we're seeing professional women, SAHMs, and models, with awesome hairstyles - and no hair coloring on their naturally white or gray hair.

In Nordstrom's the other day I saw a woman shopping for shoes, and I just couldn't stop looking because I wanted to be like her. She wore a tailored suit, medium-high heels, and her hair was in a stylish bob. Her hair was also a salt-and-pepper gray.

To make her look more stunning, she was wearing silver jewelry, a medium-dark dusky rose lipstick (with gloss), and a silver-toned watch.

Her hair was healthy - it was shiny and it moved when she turned her head. (I'm going to research this look further and report back to you.) She had makeup on, but it looked dewy and not powdery. Her eye shadow was conservative, but she wore black eyeliner and black mascara.

I'm studying this look, because I want to have that kind of confidence.

No one, not even me (I've thought I was 31 for the past 50-some-odd years, or whatever the math is), escapes the years. And my new goal is to own my age and be proud I've made it this far.

No one else on the planet may realize that I've learned a lot over the years - but I know it, and I'm not going to hide it anymore. I want to stand tall (even at 5-feet 0-inches), and walk with grace. I want to call people "dear." I want to walk with purpose, speak with clarity, exercise every day, and be self-reliant.

I want to be a grown-up, like the gorgeous goddess at Nordstom's.

Great post! A couple friends

Great post! A couple friends and I attended a comedy show a few months ago. We were sitting 2 tables away from a group of women who looked to be in their 50s or 60s. Each one was impeccably dressed in fashionable clothing. Each had gray hair. One had a haircut similar to Rihanna's. Another's hair was very long and she wore it in ringlets. The third had medium length hair with blunt-cut bangs. "Rihanna" wore wideleg jeans and a cute blouse. I don't recall what the other two wore, but they were all amazing. My friends felt like stalkers...lol...we could not keep our eyes off them. We were so amazed at how awesomely hot (is that a phrase? lol) they looked.

Just because you can take a punch doesn't mean you have to stand in front of a fist

That's so cool, Gwen.

I know what you mean. I'm collecting pictures of awesome older women, in order to have some role models going on. Your ladies sound delightful. Thanks for the reply!
