Traditionally, shorts have been considered for the beach, gym, or the park. That’s not exactly the case anymore. Shorts have become more acceptable. Whether it’s at work (if permitted) or at a PTA meeting, there are a variety of ways to make shorts part of your everyday wardrobe. Here are some tips:
· The shorts should fall above the knee or just below and have a flat front (it creates a cleaner look). Color is also important (gray, black, khaki, and white are the best). They’ll be easier to match with jackets. The Gap has a great variety: http://www.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=13642&ti...
· Jackets can “dress-up” shorts. For example a swing silhouette jacket or my favorite, a cropped jacket. Here’s are some of my favorite’s: http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_...
· Don’t need a jacket? Try a short sleeve cardigan, a vest, or a fitted polo shirt. Take a look at some of these cute cardigan’s: http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_...
· Shoes can make or break the outfit. High heels will give the look a more polished appeal: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2973402/0~2376778~2372...
· If heels are not your thing try ballerina flats or wedged heels. Here are some examples: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/24277755/c/3661.html or http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/19527164/c/6.html
· Solid colored shirts with clean lines and cuts work best. Tucking them in will pull the outfit together: http://www.shopbop.com/larissa-stripe-top-theory/v...
· Accessories can add that extra touch of class that shorts need. Keep them simple and classic. Studs of any kind, like diamonds, pearls, or small silver hoops would work. Banana Republic has a good selection: http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse/category.do?c...
· Necklaces can add some color to your shirt. Since it’s summer long beaded necklaces are perfect. Here’s a great collection: http://www.freepeople.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/pro...
· Handbags! Keep away from black, they’re too stark for the summer. Try a bag with a woven look: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?I...

Your resources amaze me. I love looking at your posts on fashion because at times I can feel like a complete fashion failure. And the Free People site looks really fun, I'll be sure to check it out more in depth.

Free people is AWESOME along
Free people is AWESOME along with Urban Outfitter's and Anthropologie. They're a little pricey BUT they're great for inspiration. I've got a site that'll be Fashion based. I've been working on it for some time now. When and if I ever figure out how to work Wordpress and get it up and running I'll let you know...

I'd wear shorts year 'round if allowed!
I'm most comfortable in shorts. In fact, I'm wearing shorts today!
When you live in climates like ours, shorts are not only a fashion statement, but an absolute necessity.
Lots of pretty stuff in the links. Great post!

Good tips...
However I would like to add that most women do look better in shorts, unless they have thin legs. Shorter skirts (just above the knee) are a great alternative to shorts in hot weather. Frankly, I think they feel cooler. And I live in the tropics!!
Skirts are great. Shorts
Skirts are great. Shorts that fall just above the knee or just below can help a skinny leg.
Thanks for the tips and welcome to the site!!!!!
