There was an email about Obama "removing" the American flag from his plane as he refurbished it for his campaign. I live in the deep South and I must say I am getting a bit frustrated with all the anti-American statements flying around during this election.
Candidates all have, and have all had, airplanes for their campaigns that have had their logos on them - Obama chose a plane from the North American Airlines fleet and it is THEIR logo he had removed from the tail.
Take a look at Snopes...

Mc Cain doesn't have a big giant American Flag on his plane either... so why aren't we talking about that?
To me, the source of these emails and the gossip shrouds a quiet racism that can be swept under the rug of "inexperience" and "muslim" and "anti-American", then they are sent to people without racism in their heart, where they're taken as fact that he doesn't like the American Flag or he won't raise his hand during the pledge of allegiance or is a Muslim terrorist blah blah blah...
Obama is a senator. He's a Christian. He's black. He's a Democrat. Can we all move on now?
John Mc Cain is a senator. He's a Christian. He's white. He's a Republican with a dash of independence.
I don't agree with either of them 100% of the time, but what I am 100% sure of is that both men are patriotic and think they both have the best ideas for the next vital steps our country has to make.
I have never heard so many "anti-American" sentiment during an election in all the years I have been paying attention to politics. And somehow it's all being thrown in one direction.
I wish people would listen to debates and make informed, educated decisions rather than discover "truth" in mass emails that have no specific author... it's like the National Enquirer without the pictures. Just trash.
I would much rather disagree with someone when they can argue that they don't like Obama's plan for health care, or Mc Cain's Foreign Policy.
I am so sick of giving a shit how many houses people own or whether or not someone painted over an old logo of an American Flag.
Who will lead us in the direction you want to see your country move in? That's the only question I wish to hear the answer to.
God Bless America where we can talk about all this freely!!

You said it well. I am tired of any kind of political bashing. I thought both McCain & Obama were going into this one with the agreement they would refrain from that kind of BS. I was disappointed to see they have chosen to take the road of slamming their opponent versus show us their solid plans for a better system.
I also believe there should be a required basic "test" before you can vote, so as to truly understand the candidates, their platform, voting history, and fundamental beliefs, so you can make an educated vote versus a "media/popularity contest" vote.
It's everywhere and not so quiet
I live in Umbria, Italy and the editr of the local bilingual magazine has taken it upon himself to write an editorial accusing Obama of being a Muslim, of leading a group of deluded followers who do not understand politics and of having lied about every personal question he's been asked. Now he will not affect anyone's vote from here, but it is so disgusting that this Berlusconi supporter who helped elect for the third time a man who would be in prison if he had not passed a law making himself immune, dares to smear an American candidate. We are publicly boycotting his advertisers.
I didn't know if I would live to vote for a woman or a person of color. This has been an amazing year. Let's stick to issues, having overcome the big one.
Great respone. I can relate
