2 weeks ago I found out that a friend (42 year old) mother of a 4 year old was going to die in 3 months. She has pancreatic cancer (stage 4) that has moved into her liver. Last week I found out that a good friend (38 year old) mother of a 10 year old boy was diagnosed with advanced glaucoma and if something wasn't done she could go blind at a young age. 3 days ago a friend from high school (37 year old) mother of 2 kids died unexpectedly of a liver disease.
What is happening? Why so much at once. I am shocked by how many YOUNG women are stricken with serious sometimes fatal health problems. I am shocked at how many people I know are suffering. I am sadden by it all and it sometimes feels paralyzing.
I read something very powerful this morning that I am compelled to share. Something I believe in 100%. It was written by Dr. Christine Farlow (http://www.healthyeatingadvisor.com). I am going to quote her exactly:
"Many people question the importance of healthy eating because they seemed to be fine not eating healthfully for many years. Then all, of a sudden, they don’t feel well, they’ve been diagnosed with diabetes, heart disease or cancer or have some other health challenges. They don’t understand it. What happened?
Well, simply put, it’s like this. We’re born with a reserve to protect us against some of the assaults against our body. Think of it as a stack of $100 bills. Over time as we abuse our body, for example, by eating processed foods, junk food, unhealthy food, we spend some of those $100 bills. Eventually, if we continue eating unhealthfully, the whole stack will be gone. That’s when we’ll have big problems. We’re no longer able to get away with the indiscretions that we could when we were younger.
If you’ve already experienced this, you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, your stack of $100 bills hasn’t run out yet. But you don’t know when it will. It could be tomorrow. It could be two weeks, or five or 10 years from now. But why take the chance?
Food is your body’s fuel. It gives your body what it needs to function properly. "
So my question today for all of you is - How many $100.00 dollar bills do you have left in your stack. Are you taking the necessary steps with your diet? With your emotions? With your job? With your relationships? Are you taking the necessary steps to make sure that your $100.00 stack of bills will never run out?
To great health always,

Deanna, thank you. Thank you for taking the time to post this vital information and remind all of us that we are called to be responsible to take care of ourselves. With so many conflicting messages on diet and exercise floating around in the world today is it any wonder why people suffer from so many health problems. Not to mention junk food at our finger tips on every corner. It is almost to much temptation to handle. Psychology Today has a very good article on this subject titled "Consuming Passions."

Diet, exercise and the way you think are so important in terms of health. All of them fit together neatly, remove one and the other two suffer dearly.
Thanks for reminding us. I have seen or heard of in the past year quite a few men dropping dead of heart attacks or women getting some form of terminal cancer and many are too young leaving behind so many loved ones. This is scary and worse it could happen to anyone of us. Especially with all the unknown variables floating around in our water, air and environment.
I can't say it enough..........we must remember that this world is not our home, yet while we are here, it is important to live a well balanced life and take care of ourselves the best we can this side of heaven.
