I think I have heard this phrase a dozen times. I even said it myself, back in the day. That is why I am where I am today.
I wanted to do something else with my life. I wanted to explore my talents, likes and dreams and do what I was intended to do. With that said, I had a tremendous support system (mom and dad) that gave me the opportunity to go after my dreams. So now when I hear people say that they hate what they are doing, it makes me sad. I can relate. Life is short but, it can be very long with the wrong job, wrong partner or even being raised on the wrong side of the neighborhood.
Have you ever wondered what you might be doing with your life? Have you ever thought, "If I just had a chance at my dream job, I know I would love it." Or maybe you know somebody who is very unhappy at their job but they have responsibilities such as mortgage, children and can't just take off and follow their passions. So they keep going, unhappy. You spend the better part of your life at work, so you should be doing something that is both fulfilling and something you love. Some people don't know how to get themselves out of their rut. I guess that is the difference between being ordinary and extraordinary. Alpha Women and Alpha Men alike have the ability to make necessary changes and lead themselves out of their ruts. With that said, as strong people, we have a lot of influence on the people around us whether we realize it or not. So offering them guidance and direction is a great thing because that is all some people need, a little help, a little shove in the right direction.
So, here is a website that you can share with these people or even use for yourself! If you want to make a vocation change but are scared that, "what if you might not like your dream job?" Here is the perfect solution: take a Vocation Vacation and have
some fun trying out something you have always been interested in. Vocation Vacations (www.VocationVacations.com) is a company that was started by Brian Kurth who dreamed up this idea while stuck in traffic on the Chicago Kennedy Expressway. Each day the two to three hour drive was taking its toll on him. He started thinking, what can I do with my life? Two years later he lost his job in the dot.com collapse. That is when he jumped in with both feet and started Vocation Vacations. People thought he was crazy but now he is running a very profitable business that gives people the ability to "test drive" their dream jobs and "change their lives." There are three groups he caters to: Career Changers, Curiosity Seekers, and Gift Givers.
9/11 was a massive wake up call to people. Now more and more people are taking control of their lives and getting involved in creating first hand experiences and creating their own stories instead of getting them second hand. This is one way to make a huge shift in your life or maybe the catalyst that will help someone else that you know. I am going to try a few myself. Brian currently offers a very large array of hands on experiences in many vocations. From Wine Maker to Pastry Chef, to opening up a Doggy Day Care, you can experience just about any vocation at very reasonable prices. So be adventurous or help someone out and give them a Vocation Vacation today!
Personally, I love music. Ever since I was little I was moved by music and I love to dance. I was in Jazz, ballet, and tap dancing up until 8th grade. But there was something about music that moved me and continues to move me deep inside. I feel the beat within my core. I hear the changes in rhythm, it relaxes me, it releases my creative energy deep inside. I have always wanted to be a DJ. Taking two or three different songs and mixing them together to create one unique beat that moves people is exciting. Some of my favorite DJ's are DJ Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Deep Dish and many more. The lyrics on many of these songs are
very powerful too. Scratch DJ Academy (http://www.scratch.com) offers a six to ten week course that combines cirriculum and hands-on training with over fifty turntables and celebrity DJ instructors. I am going to attend that school before I die. It is a itch I am going to have to "scratch" soon! XM and Sirius have great European
Dance stations. XM Radio channels are 81 and 82 and Sirius Radio channels are 33 & 36. I listen to all types of music but this music is li
ke a cup of Starbucks in the morning. Like when DJ Tiesto took Sarah McLachlan and made the remix "Silence," and "Fallen," they are energizing. I am so addicted that I can't workout without my XM radio. The music really pushes me, gets my blood moving. BTW: Dancing is great foreplay too! So, grab your man and go clubbing for an hour or two. It's dark, so if he can't dance don't worry, no one will notice. Just pull him in tight and show how to bust the move! I can almost guarantee, he will really love you for it.
Ibiza (http://www.ibiza4all.org/), one of the three Balearic Islands, is nothing short of the most beautiful scenery. It is a Mediterranean Paradise, nestled outside of Spain and Portugal. Ibiza is is the European Trance captial of the world, (http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/night_i.htm). It is an amazing island to visit. Absolutely breathtaking. But, if you really like European Dance Music and like to dance, you have to go clubbing at l
east one night while you are visiting! It is something you will never forget and probably won't want to do again. Here are some of the remixes that I really like by world renowned DJ's:
