Just Make a Decision!

Part of my daily routine includes some type of personal development every day, whether that's reading an article or a chapter of a book or listening to a CD. Brian Tracy happened to be my author/speaker of choice the other day and he discussed a very important topic - the importance of making a decision about your future. Now I know that "the future" covers a wide spectrum, but what he was referring to was doing something, in other words taking action, that will change the course of your future. Most of us have something in our lives we would like to change. Some of us have lots of things we would like to change. Maybe you want to change careers, go to college, take better care of yourself, or have a more fulfilling lifestyle. What is it that you want to achieve in your life? What are the consequences of not doing anything to work to achieve it?

Those who are able to achieve the change in their lives they are seeking are the ones who muster the courage to make a decision.

There's a saying that even a bad decision is better than no decision at all. Think about that. If you make no decision at all, it is highly likely that things will stay the same. However, making a decision, even it turns out to be the wrong decision, will guarantee that something will change. And guess what? If your decision turns out to be the wrong one for you, well now you know and YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENT DECISION! Isn't that great? All of us were given the gift of free will, which means we can do something different if what we are currently doing is not working. Now of course the key with making a decision is to weigh the pros and cons and, here's the important part that many people overlook, GIVE IT TIME. Most actions do not produce immediate AND lasting results (despite what today's media would have us believe), so you need to give it the appropriate amount of time and not give up too quickly. But I absolutely promise that if you make a decision, you will be happy in the long run because you will have the feeling of accomplishment that you have taken control of your life to change something you don't like.

Doesn't that feel great?
