ohhh the media...

The more I read, watch and listen to the media, the more I decide that I have to stop. I will research the candidates positions and voting records. I will listen to speeches and debates (ooh I love the debates!) But I will not listen to the commentary after the speechs or debates. I will use my own brain to understand their meaning. I will use my own brain to decide who I like and who I disagree with.

Because I'm TIRED TIRED TIRED of the media making every freaking little comment into a national issue!!!

Every candidate is human and bound to make mis-speaks and mistakes. I choose to ignore them as the mistakes they are.

Barak did it again this weekend with George Stephanopolis. He got ahead of himself and refered to 'my Muslim religion". George corrected him and life went on. Big freaking deal. This is not worthy of the thousands of minutes of news time that it will get. Talk radio this morning was all about it. OY!

Why do you think Palin had to bring the terrified hockey player b/f of her daughters to the RNC?? it wasn't because of the voting public's opinion.. it was because of the MEDIA had been crucifing her and her child.

I'm tired of show, the circus and the talking heads. I'm tired of the media thinking that it needs to make everything a headline. I'm tired of the media deciding what's an issue to the general public. I couldn't really give a crap about Palin's kids, Barack's minister's sermons or McCains houses.

Can they lead my country? Who -in my own opinion- is the best one for it? Do they have any integrity at all??

The 24 hour news cycle is killing politics. They just have to keep finding stupid stuff to report on to fill the day.

And on a football note... I won't go into the commentators love affair with Tom Brady - seriously.

Welcome to Monday!! Go BEARS!

I couldn't agree more! The question is "can they lead the country?" Does the news media think that the public can't see what they are doing? Many of the discussions that I hear are about being fed up with the news media and all the garbage they sling around. Thanks for your sharing.

That's why I like getting my info from the BBC. It is British based media, that to me doesn't have the same kind of dysfunction as American media.

A LOT less mud slinging.

love the BBC

I have liked reading the BBC news online for a few years now and watching BBC America news. Then during the writers strike we started watching a few of their shows. Now it seems like between BBC America and the Smithsonian HD channel (and football of course!) that's all we have on the 'telly'

Rock on with the BBC!

The BBC Rocks!

I enjoyed it a lot during my first trip to England in March of this year, then became officially hooked on it when I went back in July. Now I read the news online every day, and watch BBC America whenever I have time to sit and watch. It's nice to know I'm not alone..lol

Seriously!

I agree 100% with this - I've been thinking the same thoughts. I often wonder if journalists just enjoy the mud slinging or if there is any respect, ethics or professionalism left in that field. I also get tired of the digging for anything to show a candidate as a bad person (no matter which side). Just damn disgusting that it's almost like a swarm of vultures just itchin' to bring down someone who has the guts to get out in the public eye and run for public office. Why do we have a society that enjoys watching the "car wreck" versus what's good?

I think it's a bleed over from the celeb craziness.

It seems that the media treats politicians like they treat Brittany Spears and Lindsey Lohan. As if what they do and where they go is actual news. We have so many TV shows based on this "infotainment" even a whole cable network "E!".

I don't know what changed it. Did the media start showing and reporting it because the public watched it? Or is the public watching it because the media has flooded us with it?

The most important question is how do we change it?
