Somewhere in Alaska, they are missing a village idiot.

If someone were to ask me today where I get my "news" or how I inform myself of current events I would say that about 100% of it is from the internet.

That includes Newspaper articles, but in E-format.

Occasionally I check out the L.A. Times or the Tribune Review (Pittsburgh-because that's my home town, and the Washington post, very occasionally.

A lot of times I find articles that are from misc. news papers that friends send me.

Of the websites I get info from I usually go to msn.com, democracy now, BBC, and The Huffington Post. Sites like Democracy Now follow a more journalistic approach, while the Huffington post is more op/ed. I do watch the local news from time to time and I admit I could do better with seeking out and paying closer attention to world news.

Either way, I can name the sources of where I get info, and I should, every one should!

Can the same be said for the Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin? Check out this painfully awkward video and find out for yourself.

She's a disaster

Check out any pole on any network on any side of the parties....Palin is a disaster and is proving it over and over again in each interview.
WOW....nice job McCain...you sure picked a strange foolish VP candidate.
That's okay, she'll go back to Alaska and continue her terrible job there.....Clearly Obama is targetted to win this.
I thank Palin for that!

She is tenacious

Shortly after her nomination was announced I posted my thoughts on Palin which are now coming to fruition.

The sad thing for America and John McCain is that this is news all over the world. My friends and family across the world are asking me about the America reaction to her gaffes and embarrassing interviews. They are all lauging.

However, she is tenacious and by now she is also probably very angry with the media. She is currently being coached for the debate and when she is sure of her facts, she is very good at spouting them. So, don't underestimate her in the debate tomorrow night. She may be very strong. She may be so overwhelmed from all the speed learning this week that she gives the wrong answer to a question, but she may also be refreshed and ready for the challenge. The dangerous thing is that she does not know she is incompetent. She thinks she is fine.

Biden is damned whichever way he goes. If he is a gentleman and defers to her, he will be accused of being weak or sexist. If he is strong and insightful, he will be called a bully and if at some point he hesitates wondering if he should 'bully' or 'defer' he will be seen as 'vague'. So he loses, either way.

When high profile Republicans call for her to step down, though, that is indicative of the fact they realise she was the poor choice.

There is also much that has come out of Alaska and been swept under the rug until after the election.

Sad

Again, I find it sad that people continue to find fault with everything this woman does. How can you form an opinion of Sara as being the "village idiot" just because she refused to list which publications she reads? WHO CARES! She has been under attack from the day she was put in the spotlight. Clearly she is on defense. If I were put on the spot and asked to name which publications (when the question was so obviously spiteful) I read, I may stumble as well (because I do have a lot of sources I reference, including official organizations). I also may feel like it is absurd and unnecessary for me to dignify that question with an answer. Don't get me wrong, I was disappointed at her attempts to answer some of the other questions, but I also see her as being rattled. When in defense mode, I personally have found it a challenge to maintain my organized thoughts. Haven't you ever wished you would've said this or that AFTER your confrontation with someone?

Global Economy

sacey0612, Hello,
I am responding to your response, if you will allow me. The reason for this is that I have been a critic of Sarah Palin from the outset and I understand why you feel as you do.

I am sure on a local level she can hold her own. She has come a long way and she is very tenacious. She is also beautiful and capable - in her own league. Were she seeking some lesser position at national level, or maybe moving to a larger state and seeking Governorship there, she could be adequate. But, you need to remember that she is contesting the second highest position in the world. Her role as VP would take her beyond Alaska, take her beyond America. Her running mate is an old man with a history of ill health and she could be called upon to step in as President. There will be no time for 'prepping by an expert team' then. You and I are not seeking that role so it is irrelevant that we may get defensive when asked about issues, legislation, reading matter. Although, I can tell you now my news and current affairs sources. That may be because I spent more than 20 years as a teacher of Economics and like a politician, I had to abreast of all that was happening at home and abroad. But, we have a right to expect more of our elected leaders at national and international level. I expect my leaders to have vision, knowledge, education, statesman/womanlike qualities as well as tenacity. We should all expect our leaders to be able to hold their own in a 'soft' interview with a charming person like Katie Couric. That she cannot think on her feet immediately discounts her as a potential leader of the most significant country in the free world. It displays her inadequacies for all the world to see. International media has covered all of these interviews and every cringe inducing moment has been broadcast in America and far beyond. Have you ever been out of America and really stood back an look at what a truly amazing and hugely important country America is? Believe me, the rest of the world used to look up at America. Sadly, much of the rest of the free world is now laughing. America is my chosen country and that breaks my heart.

Interestingly enough, my earlier post almost defends Palin because she has no self doubt, she is determined to be a leader. Perhaps in time she will be. Again I will say that she will be much stronger in the debate. Perhaps that will assuage the critics, perhaps not. I am going to watch the debate with an open mind. I think she will do far better tonight. There is a part of me which hopes she will. We shall see! Smiling

Sacey, this is not a small

Sacey, this is not a small thing. And while you or I may stumble to think about our news sources, the future vice president should not. Katie was definitely trying to make a point, no doubt about it. And she did, very successfully. If someone is caught off guard like that, I think the best thing to do is say, "Oh, you caught me off guard," or something but Palin just bs's her way out of it as if we aren't going to notice. That is what is so egregiously offensive to me. It is not absurd for someone who MUST know a lot about local, national, and world news to remember where they go for updates. It's kind of like the biggest no brainer-I think. It's like asking a stock broker where he gets his latest stock tips or a bus driver where they go for the latest traffic reports.

If I tell you that I get all my news from the Huff post, you'll be able to make a reasonable judgment that my knowledge is limited and one sided and mostly op/ed. A person who only reads the Huff post is not in a good position to run for VP of the United States. A person who reads nothing is in an even bigger predicament.

Palin didn't "refuse" to answer Katie's question, she didn't know how to answer Katie's question, and I think it is because she is not very well read, the dubious point that Katie successfully made. I would have much more respect for Palin if she just said, "Katie, what are you getting at with that question?" "Or, Katie, don't patronize or test me with that silly question, if you want to know what I read, I'll send you a list of my subscriptions."

I don't think she is rattled when she is in defense mode as much as she is rattled when she doesn't know what the hell she is talking about, or has an answer that she knows is unacceptable. Pukeko had it right on the money with that one. When Palin is coached, she's a force to be reckoned with. If she is asked a more random unexpected question, she's toast.

The debates tonight should be very interesting. I'm hoping they debate until both of them explode so I won't have to be stuck with either one of them.

To:Sacey0612... Some People

are so ignorant, that they would fear a good woman like Palin simply because she isn't good at shoveling BS, then a bad man like Obama who neck-deep in BS and corruption. It all doesn't matter anyway: Obama will never win this, and Palin will be VP. We'll be laughing at these bloggers and their obtuse opinions in a few weeks time. What goes around, is coming around. And Obama is going to pay with the loss of his career, for all his lies and all his sins. Four years from now, we won't even know who he is.

"We generate and create in our life, the results that we believe we deserve."

Sesha, I've never said or

Sesha, I've never said or thought this before, but if I could block you from responding to my blogs, I would. And not because you have different views from me, but because you yell (in print) much better than you listen.

I do not defend Barack Obama because I want him to win this election. As I've said a hundred times, I am not voting for Barack Obama. I do however seek to expose and defend the truth no matter who it is regarding. If someone said some ridiculous thing about McCain that I believed wasn't true, I'd call him or her out on it.

If you are hoping to have a big ol laugh at people who you claim have "obtuse" opinions (which must be your word of the week) then you are more immature than I thought.

The delegates

New topics are encouraged because as we all know by now, Obama will win this election. Thank goodness. I am so happy that I will continue to have my rights as a woman respected.
McCain is just done for. He is finished. He fought the good fight, but curtains are closing.
Thanks to all who have sent me emails telling me to ignore nasty comments and keep posting. God Bless.

OBAMA TO WIN

All poles say obama will win !!!! Finally, the losers out there will see their fault

Sara

Who are you calling losers?

Who are you calling losers? Are you referring to people who do not want Obama as president? I agree that Palin was not the right choice, but I will not vote for Obama for a number of reasons. I disagree with your constant fabrications on this site about Palin--she forced her daughter to have a baby and forced her daughter to get married ... oh, and I remember a suggestion that McCain wants to be President to "go out with a bang" by intentionally passing away while in office. Occasionally, you make comments that are valid, but they are overshadowed by such mindless remarks.

I know that you have a right to your share your opinions on sites such as this one, but so do the rest of us. Because some of us may have opinions that differ from your views does not qualify you to judge us as losers or being at fault for anything.

I was just out with my girlfriends ... some very strong republicans and some very strong democrats at the same table. We are mature enough to debate each other's opinions without childish name calling and respect each other for it!

Great comment! I have

Great comment! I have friends, dear friends that have beliefs that are polar opposite of mine in religion, politics and more, yet somehow I still manage to love them and respect them and their opinions, beliefs, and thoughts. Funny things is that often we debate our differences but never once have I referred to them as losers or stupid?

Thanks for sharing. I hope we can come to a place here where we will respect one another and refrain from name calling!

Great Post!

In all fairness, Saragirl is

In all fairness, Saragirl is not the only one who is name calling here. In fact I am almost certain she is responding mostly to Seshat65 for suggesting that some of us who are not for Palin are "ignorant" and have "obtuse" opinions-which I thought was equally as unnecessary.

When I read Sarahgirl's post though on Palin "forcing" her daughter to have a baby, I didn't read it as literally as you may have. I don't think she meant to say that Palin put a gun to her daughters head and said HAVE THAT BABY!!!! I got that saragirl was making a point that Bristol probably did not make the decision to keep her baby entirely on her own-even if it was indirect pressure to keep it. When you know your mom is a governor who doesn't support abortion, you have a different set of voices in the back of your head telling you what your options are. This is pure speculation though, and I think even saragirl would say so.

I don't know if I can say that Palin is "forcing" her daughter to get married, but I will say that I HIGHLY DOUBT anybody-including Palin would be encouraging Bristol to get married if it wasn't for the fact that she is running for VP. Do you really think that the Republican strategists are okay with an unwed mother living in the white house? There is no way in hell.

I mean how would that work? Will the baby daddy get visitation on the weekends? Will he have to pay child support to the unwed teenage mom living in the white house? Or better yet, what if she doesn't want to marry him but decides they want to get their own place and "shack up" together. Or what if he tried to move into the white house with them before they are married? Do you seriously think her mother and the Republican master minds aren't saying, HELL NO!!!???!!!

And-not to sound like I'm defending saragirl, but I can't help it, I agree with her, you cannot tell me that the boy wants to get married. Again, PURE SPECULATION but c'mon. He looked like he was in hell when they had him on stage at the RNC.

I do agree with you on one point, the name calling is a bit overkill.

I agree with you everyone

I agree with you everyone needs to stop. I wouldn't leave on the account of one person. There are so many other great bloggers and posts on here, yet it seems only a few have provoked such passion.

It would be nice to see equal passion go into the comments on other posts as well.

Hostile Responses

I would have to support BeautyMark in this. I too have been 'namecalled' by another poster. It is not my style to call people names because their opinion differs from mine, but I do reserve the right to criticize those who stand for the highest office in the land. If I do not believe they are capable in any way shape or form to do the job, I shall say so. By that I do not mean assert absolute lies and untruths.

However, after a particularly loud (caps)and extremely hostile post to me, for expressing an opinion on that posters blog, a couple of weeks ago, I didnt come back here for a few days. I hope that same poster has not 'chased away' others.

So, whilst I would like to remain - I am preparing a blog to post this weekend to put a different perspective forward - I will not tolerate being so abused by other posters. I have read BeautyMark's posts with interest and empathy.

When using the written word to express your opinions, make statements or simply chat with other posters, there are some rules of etiquette. When you type in caps, it is perceived as shouting. You may emphasise one word to make a point, but a whole phrase or sentence in uppercase is shouting.

I think this is a great blog and I would be privileged to continue, now that I have started, but I will not be shouted out or abused.

With thanks

Pukeko
