Third Party Beware

Lately I have been criticized by some friends, family, and even those in the blogosphere regarding my decision to vote for a third party candidate. Democrats feel my decision is a vote for the Republican ticket. Republicans feel it is just a ridiculous decision. I am not swayed by either critique because I am convinced that neither the Democratic ticket nor the Republican ticket is worth my vote, for reasons I don't have the time or energy to get into at the moment.

What I can share is a transcript from a Democracy Now episode that explains how crazy this whole "Democratic" process is, and why both Dems and Repubs frustrate me.

I would have been happy to vote for Obama if he had the integrity to challenge what has become the current system of debating, but he hasn't, and why is that??? He claims to stand for change, but he doesn't. He stands for status quo within the democratic party.

This system is not a democracy.

Read this transcript...(or watch the episode if you can)

Write In Candidates

I have just been talking to a friend who insists she is going to write in her choice of candidate and has a clutch of friends who will do likewise. In my experience, (I have been eligible to vote for 40 years and actively involved in 5 elections) such votes are to the detriment of the more liberal party (not just in the US). I consider it to be a 'lost vote'. That said, the man who shares my bed is an ardent Independent and tells me he is going to do likewise - although not the same person. Hmmmm....he may have to find another bed Eye-wink

You are just as entitled to your opinion as anyone and each of us brings a different viewpoint based on a different reference group, to the table. The thing is that you are not afraid to stand up and be counted. Just don't waste your vote, Smiling
