"About a year ago, I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind three times since then. I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and FOX News, you might get some middle ground to work with.
About six months ago, I started thinking, 'Where did the money come from for Obama?' I have four daughters who went to college, and we were middle class, and money was tight.
We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans. I started looking into Obama's life. Around 1979, Obama started college at Occidental in California . He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. 'Barry' (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan .
During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a 'round the world' trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia , next Hyderabad in India , three weeks in Karachi , Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate's family. My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? Neither I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they were in college.
When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York . It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barak - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia ? It's not cheap to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans maybe" After Columbia , he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000 Year.
Why Chicago ? Why not New York ? He was already living in New York . By 'chance' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria , and a real estate developer in Chicago . Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year.
Rezko was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association.
About two hears later, Obama entered Harvard Law School . Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School ? Where did he get the money for Law School ? More student loans?
After law school, he went back to Chicago . Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which was Rezko's firm.
Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago . In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than the asking price. With
ALL those Student Loans, where did he get the money for the property? On the same day, Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price.
The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko. Now that we have Obama running for President.
Valerie Jarrett was Michele Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz , Iran ! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?
On May 10, 2008, the Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama was 'sacked after the press found out he was having regular contacts with 'Hamas,' which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran .
This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq , he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will 'take care of things.'
Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that were born in Pakistan ? They are in charge of all these 'small' Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East ? And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, the Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on "This Week' with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, 'My Muslim faith...' When questioned, 'he made a mistake.' Some mistake!
All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it - Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barak Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett; Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times - September 7, 2008; The Times, May 10, 2008.
Now the BIG question - If I found out all this information on my own, why haven't all of our 'intelligent' members of the press been reporting this? A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear - 'Beware of the enemy from within.'!"

Dear Sophia,
As a grad student who can barely keep my head above my debt, I can certainly relate to the high cost of education and travel. I recently tried to book a flight to Poland but $1000 dollars is just not in the grad school budget!
I think the questions you raise are important, because they force us to examine candidates' integrity and character but I do wonder what you are implying by them, and I am curious as to how you think Americans should respond to the information. Do you think we should be alarmed? If so, why?
I have heard a lot of discussion regarding the concern over Obama's professional and/or familial ties to the middle east and his connection to various people like Rezko and Ayers, and so far I haven't heard anything that implicates Obama in any specific wrong doing. Is Rezko a slimy bastard? Yes. Did he give money to Obama? Yes. Is there something strange about their mortgage situation, yes, but what are we getting at with it?
Also what is the concern with his Middle East connections? Is it that Obama might be connected to terrorism or that he is funded by terrorists? Is it that he might have loyalties to Middle Eastern countries over the U.S.? I am just curious. Should we be thinking that if he has Muslim friends or colleagues that he is dangerous?
How are such relationships or connections to Obama different than the relationships that ALL Presidents in recent history (repubs and dems)have had with various corrupt leaders (national and international) and governments?
The same kind of connections are rumored to have fueled the Kennedy families rise to political fame. Does that mean they were not worthy of the offices they occupied?
I love Wikipedia. I use it all the time. However, I use it with caution because all of the information on Wikipedia is "user generated content." That means anyone can post anything they want on there. I am not suggesting that the info you got isn't true, but Wikipedia isn't exactly the most reliable of sources.

Not to sound too much like a conspiracy theorist...
I agree with beautymark. You do bring to light a lot of interesting points, not the least of which is "politicians are creepy." I couldn't help thinking as I read this post about what I know about Bush's money and connections. It's not unusual for politicians to get money from questionable sources--but is it better to know about it? The reason "'intelligent' members of the press" haven't been reporting it probably has to do with the same reason anything isn't reported: the news ain't free. You should beware the enemy within, at least in the way that you should be cautious about eveything you read and hear--especially on Wikipedia--because nothing is unbiased, and most everything is owned by a larger corporation with its own motives.

Great points Meghanne! This
Great points Meghanne! This makes me realize that in addition to Barack having to answer the question "where's the money coming from?" lots of other individuals, groups AND media conglomerates should be answering the same thing.
And what's wrong with conspiracy theories?? ;-.)

Valid responses....
Valid responses ... but I would still be interested to know the answer to Sophia's question! There is no way anyone lives in Chicago on $12k/year while paying student loans for education at Columbia (even at interest only payments). As a person still paying on student loans, I have some knowledge here.
Yes, it seems as if all politicians have more than a few shady connections hanging in their closets. But, I feel a bit more comfortable knowing those connections are from big business leaders here in the U.S. than people from countries that typically have very hateful and violent feelings toward Americans.
And yes, it does seem that the media is "less biased" toward Obama because most media outlets support liberal politics and have for many, many years – which does make it more difficult to find out about anything that may not be so attractive.
I have, for the last several elections remained a republican. This is another very difficult year for me as a voter less than thrilled with the republican ticket (and it gets worse with each debate). I know McCain is a good man, but his "coach" need to be terminated. I, and others I know, may actually vote for a lesser-known candidate because we are struggling with McCain's performance yet we will never vote for Obama. He does have some smart ideas, but with some of his ideas, I believe the outcomes will prove devastating to our economy and way of life. In addition, there is a look that Barak and Michelle have in their eyes that scares the heck out of me. I don't know what it is, but I don't trust it. (Me, personally!)
Viral Campaigning
Would the author please correct me if I am wrong. I suspect that this, like another new blog hereon, is the work of viral campaigners. I am seeing these repeated on other blogs. I find it interesting as the poster appears to be very genuine in her profile.
Thank you

Thanks for your comments
Thanks for your comments Christine. I agree, I'd like to know the answer too.
While I think it is logical and the ideal to hold U.S. companies at a higher regard, the reality is that power+greed+money is just as dangerous a combo in the U.S. as it is in Iran. I really think that demonizing the crazy mo fo's "over there" is a political strategy that diverts our attention from companies in the US who rape and pillage the American economy and places abroad right from under us.
And if the media is truly biased toward the left why do they systematically exclude third party candidates from debates?
The media is not pro "liberal." It is pro status quo, which is precisely what preserves this destructive, limiting two party system. (In my opinion ;-.)
I think you should vote for who you REALLY think should win even if that person doesn't have a chance of winning. (IMO. This system isn't working. A revolution has to start somewhere!!!

...the revolution!
Beautymark … I agree with you about the revolution! We should demand true democratic elections that are not based on dollars raised or popular parties. We should demand that debates take place between all parties listed as presidential/vice-presidential candidates on the ballot. I will admit complete ignorance when I read some of the names on my absentee ballot. But, I promise to do my homework before I fill in the boxes and send it in.
I’m so frustrated with our system and even more so with the news about alleged voter registration fraud by ACORN and the illegal purges in some states that (according to articles I’ve read) could affect the Democratic Party … is anyone honest anymore??? We push other countries into democratic systems and yet we set this type of example???
And, Beautymark, I’ve read the arguments begging you not to throw your vote away. I used to believe that voting for another party would be throwing my vote away. Now, I’m beginning to realize it is that type of thinking that is perpetuating this restrictive two-party dominance. We cannot shout out for change if we are not willing to take actions to promote change. It amazes me how people are getting behind the “change” slogans of these two candidates yet fall blindly in step behind two parties that are status quo.
We vote for Democrats and Republicans to look out for our best interests, yet they fail to behave as mature, reasonable and compromising adults thus failing to accomplish anything without using “pork” bribes to gain agreement. Now we have this ridiculous bail-out agreement that (IMO) was pushed through way too quickly to understand the true impact. Why? If I had to guess, it was to come off as heroes with their respective constituents in hopes of re-election after a dismal and F-rated year. And, of course, to get that puppy signed, they all got their pet projects funded in the name of saving Americans.
Okay … I’m ranting again! ;o)
