Today was a really good day. My aunt was in town with my cousin who is starting her second year at an acting school in Hollywood. We went into "Old Town" Pasadena for a bite to eat and discovered an amazing art installation designed by Yoko Ono. The installation is called "Wish Tree for Pasadena." The website explains the project as:
"Wish Tree for Pasadena is an art installation that consists of 21 living crape myrtle trees installed amongst the café tables and chairs in the Courtyard of One Colorado. Visitors are invited to write their wishes on pieces of paper and hang them on the tree branches.
Wishes from Wish Tree for Pasadena will be joined with others from all over the world and placed in specially constructed capsules to be installed in the area surrounding Yoko Ono’s Imagine Peace Tower on Videy Island, off the coast of Reykjavík, Iceland."
I love this concept; a wonderful celebration of community, personal narrative, and the hopes, fears, and dreams that we all have. The sight of the trees was breathtaking too. Neither of my photos captures the drooping branches weighed down with the pull of all the wishes.
Many wished for life partners, health for friends and family, and happiness for their children. It was one of the most inspiring exhibits I have ever seen. I was amazed by how many wishes I could call my own. I was also deeply moved by one in particular that didn't have anything to do with my experience that read, "I wish Jay Leno would quit making jokes about gay people." For some reason that one made me cry instantly. I think that person's wish revealed a humble inner pain that just broke my heart.
Not only did we stop to read other people's wishes which ranged from "I wish for a lifetime supply of candy" to "I wish that Dick Cheney would rot in hell," we took time to write our own.
Some say that you should never share a wish or else it won't come true. I totally disagree. I think sharing what you wish not only puts that wish into motion in the universe as well as within, it helps you speak the wish into reality, and it also inspires other to wish too.
These were mine:
I wish for the deepest peace and contentment for Raymond, my love.
I wish that Michiline finds the sincerest love who respects and adores her from her head to her toes.
I wish for health (mind, body, and spirit) for the Eggers, Grahams, Pierettis, Shooks, Kobys, Browns, Youngs, Robinsons, and anyone else who has inspired, supported, encouraged, challenged, loved, and laughed with me.
I wish to be a published author so I can inspire, challenge, share, and effect change with my words.
And last but not least...
I wish for the best of life for Alphawoman worldwide.
What do you wish for? (Feel free to interchange "wish" with "hope" "pray" etc. Share your wish here and I promise (as God as my witness), I will write your wish and attach it to one of the trees.

I wish for peace, love, romance, magic and good health and wealth to surround me always. I wish to be a best selling published author and if even for an ounce of happiness and inspiration to come to those who read. I wish for every human being on this planet to BE their passion and feel the great love available to them now. I wish for my family- love, peace and health always. I wish for my love- where ever he may be- to feel my love now...
