I love the fact that this was linked to etiquette. I don't have a daughter but I do have a son and I've always tried to impress upon him that paying attention to hygiene, dressing well, etc., says to the other person, "I took the time to take care of myself." Because if you can't be bothered to brush your teeth in the morning, how can you possibly expect me to trust you with my money/car/child/etc.?
